LETTER TO EMPLOYEES
The anthrax attacks that struck the Postal Service so tragically in 2001 are again making headlines. Whether you were with us during that trying time or have joined us in the years since, I’m sure you know that the experience profoundly affected our organization.

How about this? We just recorded our third straight quarter of 96 percent on-time overnight delivery performance. And one of those quarters was our busy holiday mailing season! We’re continuing to set service records.

Any way you look at it, 2007 was a remarkable year for the Postal Service and for the millions of families and businesses who depend on us — day in and day out.

Just about everywhere I go, here in Washington or in the field, I can count on meeting a few postal retirees. And they all tell me the same thing – just because they’re retired, doesn’t mean they’ve lost interest in what’s happening at the Postal Service.
